Energise and recharge at Summer Solstice retreat

THE approaching Summer Solstice on Saturday 21 December will be observed in Darley via an afternoon of restorative yoga, crystal healing and sound therapy.

Set in a serene crystal garden, the two-hour afternoon session will be guided by long-time friends and wellness specialists Georgia Stavrou from Geo Wellness, Michelle Rose Daly from Michelle Rose Inner Wisdom and Kerry Healy from Kerry’s Healing Crystals.

Ms Rose, a sound therapist, said the event will uniquely combine her own and Ms Stavrou’s practices.

“I’ll be programming crystals to enhance the solstice energy as the Sun moves back into the light, so that the people will receive extra energy that way,” she said.

“(In terms of) the sounds, I’ll be using certain notes as Georgia is going through her poses. I’ll be (doing that) to support those spaces where the chakra system is and help energy flow.”

Personal trainer, fitness trainer and yoga instructor Ms Stavrou said the “restorative yoga” she’ll be offering will involve holding a specific sequence of poses for up to 20 minutes for each.

“It’s about opening up certain parts of the body to help relax and connect from head to toe with that flow,” she said.

“Yoga uses specific props, so the participants will be nestled in or cuddling or surrendering onto that particular prop.

“It’s more of a very slow-styled yoga – it’s super relaxing, and people will be able to naturally let go and go into a meditative state as they’re in each pose.”

The Summer Solstice Crystal Yoga Sound Retreat will be held on Saturday 21 December from 12.30 to 2.30pm.

Tickets include a light lunch and your own crystal. The onsite crystal shop will also be open for purchases.
