Four Fs on exhibition
ANIMALS, plants, and fungi are the focus of a new local art exhibition, curated by local artists.
The Fauna, Flora, Forests and Fungi exhibition is currently on at the Ballan Arts Space at 117B Inglis Street, with 27 artists from Moorabool Shire and the Central Highlands contributing pieces.
A wide range of mediums are on show celebrating the four themes, including photographs, watercolour, wood and pottery creations, and even art using real flowers and leaves.
Ballan’s Velislav Georgiev is one of the artists taking part in the exhibition, and said it was a wonderful celebration of autumn’s life and colour.
“My work is a collaborative piece with a colleague of mine from Sunshine. He’s a Bulgarian artist too, he came here 44 years ago, two months after me believe it or not, and studied art at RMIT like me,” Mr Georgiev said.
“We’d never met until a few months ago. We decided to use the opportunity to create something collaborative, based around planting, mainly because he works with flower sculptures.
“It’s hard to tell people why they should look at art. But it does something for your mind, and by extension, your lifestyle.
“Why not rinse the eye with a variety of art, mediums, techniques, and soak up the autumn colours – everything that flora and fauna can provide us with?
“It’s a pure pleasure, and of course, we have some art here that you can take home.”
The Ballan Arts Space is open Friday to Sunday from 10am to 3pm, and the Fauna, Flora, Forests and Fungi exhibition will end on 19 May.
The Arts Space also has Mother’s Day gifts available to purchase.
