AUSTRALIAN Idol finalist, Bacchus Marsh’s Jacinta Guirguis or Cynta is looking forward to performing at St Anne’s Winery next month. The singer will be performing at the Myrniong venue from 7pm on Saturday 4 July.
The winery show follows her recent series of packed home town Thank You shows at Bacchus Marsh’s Royal Hotel.
“Those shows were really, really special,” the musician said.
She said appearing on the television competition earlier this year has had a massive impact on her musical career.
“It’s made a huge difference. More people know who I am and I’ve been able to reach more people,” she said.
One of those people is musician Luke Rossignuolo, who splits his time between Chicago and Melbourne.
Rossignuolo was motivated by Cynta’s Idol performances to reach out in hope of collaborating with the Bacchus Marsh local, who is also a songwriter in her own right.
The result is two freshly recorded songs on which she has collaborated with Rossignuolo – alongside a third new original which Cynta has written entirely herself and recently recorded in Sydney, with plans for its release very soon.
“It’s called Receipts and it will be my next single,” she said.
“This is a song I wanted to release for a while. I performed it at the home town shows and people reacted really well. A lot really loved the message.”
Cynta said Receipts, which deals with a serious subject, is among the songs she is planning to perform at the St Anne’s Winery gig.
“The first set will be more chilled with a lot of my originals,”she said.
“And the second set will be more covers to get people up and dancing – some 70s and 80s stuff like Dancing Queen and Billie Jean and I Will Surive.”
Alongside plans for more collaborative studio recording time with Rossignuolo, Cynta also has a full-time day job as a transport coordinator in logistics.
She has another three shows coming up in Melbourne over July and August, with dates to be confirmed.
