APPLICATIONS for the latest round of the Touring Victoria program are now open.

This initiative provides grants of between $10,000 and $150,000 for artists and creative organisations to take their productions, performances and exhibitions to regional and outer-metropolitan areas.

Last year, the program helped six companies visit more than 20 locations across the state.

This included performances and school workshops by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the Koorie Heritage Trust’s regional presentation of JXSH MVIR: FOREVER I LIVE, an exhibition of work by the late Josh Muir, and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus’s show Tempo.

It also supported the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra’s 2023 touring season, which took in 11 regional cities and towns.

“Through Touring Victoria, we’re making sure that the best live theatre, music and cultural events can hit the road and entertain and inspire people across the state,” said State Minister for Creative Industries, Colin Brooks.

“Wherever you live in Victoria, we’re working to ensure you have access to the best our creative state has to offer, while backing local artists, companies and venues to grow their audiences.”

The 2024 round of the Touring Victoria program is expected to kick off from 1 December, with applications closing on 1 August.

Applicants are requested to demonstrate market demand and involve partnerships with presenting organisations, galleries or venues.

They’re also expected to provide details about tour destinations, the number of presentations, estimated audience numbers, a balanced budget and tour itinerary.
