GORDON Ukestra members have joined ukulele players of all ages from around the state to share the joy of music.
Held at Federation Square on Sunday 5 October, their performance was part of the Victorian Seniors Festival celebration day.
The seven-hour lineup included entertainment, dancing and workshops.
The group played a setlist of nine songs alongside other ukulele players, and group member Sandra Jarrett said it was a great day out.
“There was a setlist of songs, and they gave the details of those about a month or more ago, so we had been working on that,” she said.
“It was just a really great day… there was lots going on, lots of people.
“It was very well organised, and we had fun.”
Ms Jarrett praised the initiative and encouraged seniors to get involved with their community wherever they can.
“To be involved is the best thing, it’s no good sitting at home,” she said.
“I can’t really play the ukulele very well, I can’t sing very well, but I like being involved.”
