THE Ballan Neighbourhood House is hosting an Intuitive Writing from the Tarot workshop next month.

Offering a route to getting through writers’ block and developing characters, the three-hour workshop is taking place on Thursday 9 October and is being facilitated by experienced writer, tarot reader and reiki master Genevieve Messenger.

Ms Messenger is an experienced writing facilitator and graduate from the Victorian College of the Arts with degrees in drama and screenwriting.

Blackwood-based, she has produced numerous original plays and productions, and facilitates writers’ retreats and women’s circles. Also a celebrant, Ms Messenger said the upcoming workshop can particularly benefit anyone interested in getting in touch with their intuition, writers and others experiencing a block to their creativity.

It will also likely to appeal to “anyone who is curious about tarot and archetypes and listening to their inner wisdom or soul story”.

Participants will be guided into their own creative potential through short meditations, writing prompts, prompts for character writing and guided images, including Tarot.

“My first professional job reading tarot was in a shop in Brunswick Street, Fitzroy in about 2001,” Ms Messenger said.

“I was surprised who my clients were – CEOs and even a Buddhist nun.

“Tarot is a great reflection of the unconscious so if someone is at a crossroads, confused or looking at different choices, it gives a broad ‘eagle eye’ perspective and the person is removed from their situation and can look at it in a different way.

“Many people are exploring this kind of spirituality by developing their intuition in a grounded and authentic way.

“I invite all creatives, spiritual seekers and even skeptics to come on a journey of creative and spiritual discovery with me in this workshop.”
