A NEW exhibition by Wombat Regional Arts Network is on at Ballan Art Space.

Running until Sunday 31 August, the Artists’ Choice showcase includes a range of works from local creatives.

Dales Creek resident Angie Clayton has a painting in the exhibition titled Poppy dreaming, which is inspired by the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

“A lot of my art is from photos that I take myself,” she said.

“I love flowers, so a lot of my art is inspired by flora and fauna.”

Another artist whose work is in the exhibition is Mary-Theresa Ritchie from Gordon, and her two paintings take their inspiration from Little Lon Distilling Co in Melbourne.

“I really like bars; I like the lighting and the bottles,” she said.

“I had some photos and I mixed and matched and moved things around – I’m really, really happy with how it turned out.”

The network moved into the Ballan Art Space’s new location earlier this year and Ms Clayton said it is in a great location for visitors to drop by.

“There is just so much talent and every time you come in you see something different,” she said.

“It’s been fantastic that we’ve been able to move to this street-front and it’s brought in more visitors.

“It’s just a really lovely environment.”

Ballan Art Space is open Thursday to Sunday from 10am until 3pm at 123 Inglis Street.
