Learn to navigate menopause at upcoming workshops
AN in-person workshop focused on navigating each individual’s different journey through menopause will be conducted in Ballan and Bacchus Marsh in the coming weeks.
Hosted by Ayurvedic lifestyle consultant and yoga teacher Suse Verity from Akasha Wellness, the concept of Ayurveda – an ancient healing system from India – will be discussed, particularly how it can address common symptoms of menopause such as sleep disturbances, dietary issues and emotional changes.
Ms Verity said Ayurveda (yoga’s “sister science”) works with different modalities to look at how we live – the way that we eat, how we move, how we breathe, and even what we do with our spare time.
“It involves a lot of different things for different people,” she said.
“In a nutshell, it needs to be personalised, which is why it’s such a great treatment plan (for menopause).
“It was my own journey through menopause that made me reach out for help from different modalities, and Ayurveda was the thing that made sense.”
She said during the workshop she will be sharing things from her own personal journey and what has worked for others.
“I’ll provide a brief understanding of Ayurveda, then we’ll give people a taste of what that feels like in a movement practice,” she said.
“I’ll also provide dietary tips, and we’ll talk about sleep hygiene and other basic things that can help.”
Suse Verity’s Menopause Workshop takes place on Sunday 9 February from 2pm to 5pm at The Studio in Steiglitz Street, Ballan, and on Saturday 22 February at Chi Kin yoga + pilates in Main Street, Bacchus Marsh.
Tickets to both the Ballan and Bacchus Marsh workshops can be purchased on the Eventbrite website.
