Murals bring Moorabool scenery to Ballan Station
TWO murals by Bacchus Marsh resident Justin Nemeth have been unveiled at Ballan Station as part of the Transporting Art Pilot Program.
The program is a partnership between Moorabool Shire, the Department of Transport and V/Line, and the two photographs depict local landmarks.
The first photograph is of Bostock Reservoir, near Ballan, during the drought, and the second was taken at sunrise at Lederderg Gorge and dedicated to Nemeth’s friend Kaye Hannam who died this year.
“That’s in dedication to her because the Lerderderg sort of depicts her really vibrant energy,” said Nemeth.
“Everyone loved Kaye, she was a gorgeous person who just came in and had a huge smile for everyone and gave a big hug.”
Nemeth began taking photos in the last ten years with the goal of understanding how people take great images.
“I never actually kept a picture I took for my whole life, and I started getting into it,” he said.
“I started learning all the technical aspects of it and gaining a lot of interest.”
Nemeth said he hoped the works will encourage people who pass through the station to explore Moorabool Shire.
“I really hope that it gives people a good look out to how lucky we are in this area to be surrounded by all these beautiful things within no distance really,” he said.
“Hopefully it encourages people to get out an explore or do a bit of walking out in the bush.”
