FROM a young age, Lloyd K Williams had a tendency to record the world around him with image and word.
Now the local photographer and published writer is preparing to share some of the impactful images he’s captured in a new exhibition Eclectics opening on Saturday 11 April at Ballan’s Flack Post and Telegraph Office Gallery.
“I love nature photography and the intersection between human structures and nature, like old farm buildings and mining structures that have been worn down over time by natural forces,” said Williams who lives on the edge of the Wombat State Forest between Ballan and Daylesford.
“I’ve also got a particular interest in trees. They’re a bit like living sculptures and I love to take photos of those.
“Back in old days when you used film I used to develop my own photos as a kid.”
His upcoming exhibition includes many images captured within the Moorabool Shire while some document aspects of a trip the photographer took around Australia a few years back.
“It covers a variety of topics with that overall umbrella of nature a common thread through it all,” said Williams who also works part-time as a primary school teacher at both Daylesford and Yandoit.
He uses a Canon EOS 90D camera, frequently switching between a macro lens and a telephoto lens, and has gained a reputation for producing painterly effects with most of his photos printed onto canvas.
“I’ll use a little bit of digital manipulation to bring out certain colours and feature,” he said.
Williams’ last solo show was in Coburg several years ago.All are welcome to attend the 12pm opening of Eclectics on Saturday 11 April with the exhibition running until 3 May.
