A FAIR degree of hilarity is pretty much assured when the Probus Club of Bacchus Marsh hosts Quizzame on Wednesday 8 October.
Free to attend, the trivia game with a difference is part of the Seniors Festival program and will include lunch.
It’s taking place in the Andy Arnold Seniors’ Centre in Bennett Street, Bacchus Marsh at 10am for a 10.30am start.
It’ll be the third time the club has hosted this trivia game with a difference as part of the annual Victorian Seniors Festival.
Club secretary Gillian Loughman said that those who have experienced it on the prior occasions have enjoyed it so much it’s now being brought back due to popular demand.
“If you’ve ever watched Who Wants To Be a Millionaire? it’s a bit like that, where you have multiple choice answers to a question, and each team gets a buzzer, or a gadget in this case,” she said.
“The questions are on a TV screen; you press the buzzer according to your answer.
“There’s no writing it down and you get points for how quickly you answer the questions.
“It’s a team participation thing and you need eight or 10 people in the team to make it work properly.
“There’s usually four sessions and each has 10 or 12 questions.
“There’s also other little competitions that go on in between.
“It is a lot of fun and because it’s for the seniors fest we’ve managed to get some funding from both the Shire and the Bendigo Bank.
“We’re hoping to get at least 80 to 100 people there.
“People say ‘Oh I’m no good at trivia’ but when you’ve got a lot of different people all with different knowledge it’s a different story.
“The quiz has questions covering a wide range of different subjects, everything from music, general knowledge, history, geography.
“This our third one and people who have been to the others have requested them back.
“It’s open to anyone, not just Probus members, and you don’t even have to be in the shire.
“Just book in fast. We need people to book for catering.”
