A stitch back in time

Residents of aged care facilities throughout Bacchus Marsh are now a bit more colourful and cosier, thanks to a local quilting group.

Bacchus Marsh Friendship Quilters has created 42 lap quilts to distribute throughout in the town; including Providence Village, Royal Freemasons and Grant Lodge (pictured).

The quilts were officially handed to residents by members of the group on Wednesday, October 9.

BMFQ received a Moorabool Shire Council community grant of $950 earlier this year for the project.

The group, which has been running for 35-years, also create an annual ‘charity quilt’ to use as a fundraiser for various charities.

Secretary Tineke Carr said each quilt takes around 10 to 20 hours to make, and that the group will continue to make charity quilts for their next big project.

Bacchus Marsh Friendship Quilters meets on the second Tuesday of the month, between 9.45am to 2.00pm at The Laurels.
