Allowances mark time until Minister acts

Allowances for Moorabool Shire Councillors will not see an increase from December 2018, and it is with good reason, the Minister has not yet published a notice in Government Gazette regarding the review of Councillor Allowances for the 2019‐2020 year.

At the recent Statutory and Appointments Meeting on 13 November, a report to council said Sections 74 and 74A of the Local Government Act 1989 make provisions for the setting of, and application of increases to Councillor and Mayoral Allowances.
