Coinciding with Probus Month, which is running until the end of October, the meeting featured a cake, candles and games, with most members wearing a touch of blue and gold – the colours of the Probus logo.
“[Member] Jan Thorburn presented a This is Your Life Probus slide show featuring many events including local trips, trips abroad, past presidents, outings, social events and wonderful photos of members past and present,” club publicity officer Barbara Nixon said.
“It was a ride through history for the ladies and a time of reflection for the many friendships and memories this organisation has provided them.”
Ms Nixon said a “gorgeous” cake was cut by the club’s longest-serving member, Lucille Wheelahan, while she herself led two party games.
“The first was to identify classic movie stars and their movies, and the second was The Price is Right using grocery items,” she said.
“Everyone got into the birthday atmosphere.”

Ms Nixon said Probus’s purpose is to provide opportunities for retirees and semi-retirees to come together to make new friends and participate in a wide range of activities, all designed to keep their minds and bodies active.
“Watching a slide show presented by one of our members that went back to the very beginning made me proud to be part of this organisation,” she said.
“The ladies are so welcoming and friendly, and there is always laughs and – as usual – a delicious morning tea.”
Ms Nixon said more information about the club is available by contacting the president, Glenys Homewood, on 0409 434 167.
For 2025, the Probus Month theme is Reinvent your Retirement.
