Victoria has recorded its first case of monkeypox in a returned overseas traveler who had visited the UK. He remains in isolation with mild symptoms and the Department of Health has begun contact tracing with the man’s close contacts.

Any people showing symptoms of monkeypox, which include a blistering rash, fever, chills, muscle aches, backache, swollen lymph nodes, and exhaustion, should seek care at their nearest hospital, wearing a mask and calling ahead to make sure they can isolate away from others.
