Artwork donated to shire
MOORABOOL Shire Council has thanked a resident for donating an artwork depicting part of the Shire in the nineteenth century.
Anne Earley popped into the shire offices to donate a piece of art entitled Ballan 1895 last week, which was painted by Neil Savage in the 1960s.
Moorabool Shire mayor Cr Ally Munari thanked Ms Earley for her kind donation, and said it was fantastic to have another piece of art in their collection depicting the region in another era.
“We were so thrilled Anne donated this piece to council,” Cr Munari said.
“It was painted around 60 years ago and depicts Ballan just prior to the turn of the 20th century – how special to have it as part of council’s art collection.”
The piece once belonged to Ms Earley’s parents, but she said she was happy to re-home it.
