Author releases milestone story
BACCHUS Marsh author Mazi McBurnie has celebrated the launch of her tenth book with an event at Darley Neighbourhood house.
The novel entitled Trinity, Jessica, Louise is about a missing child and what happens to two families during the time the child is missing.
“It has lots of tragedy, there’s a murder, there’s all kinds of twists in the book,” said McBurnie.
“There’s a number of characters but of course the main character is the missing girl.
“The book is set in two country towns in Australia and the period is now.”
McBurnie began writing in 2016 after being inspired by researching her own family history.
“At the time I was doing my family history and one of the stories in the family history was the story of a gypsy family,” she said.
“I found out that my grandmother was a gypsy child and it was a really beautiful story.
“When I was finished all of the family story, I thought this is really too good not to share and I started to write it down as a book.”
This is the same location McBurnie celebrated the launch of her first book in 2016 and she said it was great to be back eight years on.
“It’s wonderful, this is a lovely place and where we had the original book launch when [Member for Ballarat] Catherine King came down,” she said.
“I’ve made a lot more friends since then so there’s a lot more people coming down today.”
McBurnie’s books are available for purchase on Amazon.
