Avenue facing another battle

The Bacchus Marsh RSL has taken on a new battleground, a new fight, a new campaign.
Members are rallying against a proposal to have trucks rumbling up and down the town’s iconic Avenue of Honour, one every six minutes, 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
The trucks would be carting contaminated spoil from the West Gate Tunnel Project, as part of a proposal to store it at the Maddingley Brown Coal property on the outskirts of Bacchus Marsh.
But the President of the Bacchus Marsh branch of the RSL, Cherrison Lawton, said that members are against the devastating effect that the trucks would have on the Avenue.
