WITH the first two stages now complete, Moorabool Shire Council has announced the beginning of Stage 3 works at Bald Hill in Darley.

The 1000+ Steps and All-Abilities Sculpture Trail were completed in 2022 and 2023 respectively, and works on Stage 3, the Summit Trail, have now begun.

The Summit Trail will include an all-abilities trail at the Bald Hill summit, viewing points, a sculpture trail, amenities and facilities at the summit, and a car park.

The all-abilities trail will be designed to capture 360 degree views across Moorabool and back towards Melbourne, and will have minimal gradients to support ease of access across the reserve.

A gathering area at the start of the Summit Trail, adjacent to the car park, will provide shelter, tables, seating, accessible toilets, wayfinding, and interpretive signage.

The budget for the Stage 3 works is $2,795,700, with just over $2.1 million of that contributed by the State Government.

Works are expected to be complete towards the end of the year.
