Ballan buses transport thousands of Scouts to Jamboree
BALLAN businesses Cartier World Travel and Coach Australia Group were recently an essential part of ensuring the Australian Jamboree for Scouts went ahead.
Director David Nickels said 186 drivers with 65 coaches were contracted to move 3000 Scouts by coach to and from the event in Maryborough, Queensland.
“The Jamboree transportation included 186 drivers as they needed to be strategically placed for change-over to ensure the fatigue was taken out of the equation. There was accommodation for drivers to have their required rest and man many flights for 60 drivers and staff at a time,” he said.
“We needed to feed the Scouts and leaders. This was in Sydney, Coffs Harbour and Brisbane in conjunction with volunteer groups.
“Not being able to secure a group in Sydney, we reached out locally and were gratefully contacted by Alfredton Rotary and Ballarat West Rotary clubs who made 3000 rolls for the n-orthbound journey and 3000 rolls for the south.
“All were transported by refrigerated truck to ensure the food was kept fresh for the Scouts to enjoy.”
Coach Australia Group has previously worked with Scouts Victoria for the Sydney Jamboree, Adelaide Jamboree, and Melbourne Jamboree, alongside the 2025 event in Queensland.
“Successful movements like the Jamboree will see many other organisations, schools and conferences contact the team at CAG to oversee their people transport requirements,” Mr Nickels said.
“The team at Cartier/Coach Australia Group are the reason for success. All staff were strategically placed throughout he route to assist.
“It’s the dedicated and qualified team that sees all parts of the business succeed. We also proud to say, they all reside in the Moorabool Shire and Ballarat.”
The Ballan operation is one of the busiest travel agencies in the Moorabool Shire, with the coach branch often contracted to conferences.
