Ballan Jockey Club Cup
Strike Force lived up to his name at Geelong on Saturday 10 November, taking out the Ballan Community Bank Ballan Cup by a half-length.
Last year’s winner Gold Fields finished third this year, but was a threat coming down the straight on the outside at the 200-metre mark, looking like he may go back to back.
Winning jockey Jason Benbow had the run for most of the race and gave trainer Michael Moroney and connections, the silverware.
The 1525-metre race had a prize pool of $35,000, attracting seven-runners.
Ballan Jockey Club is a tenant club holding one race meeting, the Cup, annually at the Geelong racecourse.
President Billy Smith said the weather was kind and the day was filled with colour, chatter and children.
“Fashions on the Field again proved popular with the ladies and gentlemen, with numbers increasing each year.
“The Club provided numerous children’s activities for families to have a fun filled and great day out at the races,” he said.
Local Moorabool businesses sponsored and supported the day.
