The Pentland Hills Landcare Group are one of the busiest and most active groups battling serrated tussock. They have a long-standing history of helping landholders and land managers tackle the noxious weed serrated tussock from the ground and from the air and have many members who benefit from their knowledge and equipment.

The Victorian Serrated Tussock Working Party (VSTWP) have provided a community grant to the Pentland Hills Landcare Group to deliver a best practice management field day for serrated tussock, as well as some communications and media promotions. The field day will feature a variety of guest speakers and a demonstration from Aus Eco Solutions on how to spray serrated tussock and best practice management principles.

The Pentland Hills Landcare Group (PHLC) is inviting the community to their Best Practice Management Field Day.

“The field day will feature treatment demonstrations, an overview of pasture and grazing management and a free lunch,” President Alan Morton said.

“Serrated Tussock is widespread between Ballan and the Pentland Hills and should be treated with high priority to act on quickly, especially given mature plants can produce up to 100,000 seeds per year.”

Mr Morton said this will be a valuable event to learn about how to minimise the chances of it turning up on your property.”

Former VSTWP extension officer, Mandy Coulson, will provide insight into best practice control options from her decade of working with the VSTWP and dealing with many landowners.

“Mandy has a wealth of knowledge and will be an excellent resource for all landowners,” Mr Morton said.

And there is no need to register for the event, just turn up on the day at 10am, and please remember to bring clothing for all weather and some water.

The Best Practice Management Field Day will be held on Saturday 14 May from 10am – 2pm.
