Bid to block toxic soil law fails

A motion in the Victorian Upper House of Parliament that would have blocked new legislation for the dumping of West Gate Tunnel spoil in Bacchus Marsh, has failed.
The Legislative Council resumed debating the ‘Environment Protection (Management of Tunnel Boring Machine Spoil) Regulations 2020’ at around 9:45 am on Friday 30 October, with 15 MLCs voting YES to disallowing the legislation in full, and 21 voting NO.
