Bird flu strikes again

Move over COVID, a second strain of avian influenza virus is in Victoria and the message from Agriculture Victoria is to prevent wild birds from getting into poultry sheds and coops.
As reported last week in the Moorabool News (11 August), the H7N7 Avian Influenza had been detected in two Golden Plains Shire poultry properties. It has now also been detected with turkeys at a property within the existing Restricted Area at Lethbridge, and another near Bairnsdale, testing positive to low pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza virus.
