A confusing email has sent regular BP customers into a panic as the Ballan Westbound and Eastbound petrol stations on the Western Freeway are set to change petrol suppliers.
An admin email titled ‘BP Ballan will be closing soon’ was sent to BP Plus customers on Wednesday, 19 June outlining that “BP Ballan will cease trading as of 30 June 2019.”
Although at first the email could be interpreted as the popular stations were closing down, a spokesperson for the Ballan stations confirmed to the Moorabool News this is not true and that the stations will be only changing the petrol supplier to Mobil.
Aside from a “change of colours” from the green and yellow of BP to the red and blue of Mobil, all regular facilities at the rest stops, including the Westbound McDonald’s and the Eastbound KFC restaurants will continue business as usual.
The Ballan stations have been BP-supplied for more than 15-years.
The spokesperson also noted that Mobil fuel cards can also be used at 7/11 stations, and that “loyal customers of the stations are welcome to purchase Mobil fuel cards in-person or online.”
As for a difference in petrol prices, the spokesperson said for customers to “watch the price board”, and that cheaper petrol could be on the horizon.
The Ballan East and Westbound stations will change to Mobil from July 1.
