BREAKING: Maddingley Brown Coal withdraws application

Moorabool Shire Council has announced in a media statement on Tuesday, 10 September that Maddingley Brown Coal has withdrawn its application to use and develop land in Tilleys Road, Maddingley as landfill for putrescible waste.

“Council wishes to advise that a planning application to use and develop land in Tilleys Road, Maddingley as a landfill for putrescible waste, has been WITHDRAWN by the applicant.
The Maddingley Brown Coal application was to amend its existing landfill permit to include:
· household waste that contains putrescible organics
· waste from litter bins collected by or on behalf of local Councils
· manure and night soil
· disposable nappies, incontinence pads or sanitary napkins
· food waste
· animal waste
Council was due to consider the application at a Special Meeting of Council on 30 September, prior to receiving notification that the applicant was withdrawing the application.
Executive Manager Community Planning and Economic Development Henry Bezuidenhout said Council had consulted widely with surrounding residents since receiving the initial application, so wanted to advise all these residents about the withdrawal.
“Council will not have the opportunity to consider this now. We have no indication as to whether the applicant will apply for another planning amendment, but this is a possibility.
“We will continue to keep the community informed of any developments, and wish to thank everyone affected who took the time to make submissions in regards to this application.”
Letters advising of the withdrawal have been sent to all landowners who made a submission on the proposal.”
