COUNTRY Fire Authority brigades in Gordon, Millbrook, Mount Egerton and Wallace are asking residents to consider joining the volunteer organisation.
The brigades are looking to strengthen their numbers to increase the capacity to respond to emergencies including wildfires, structural fires, motor vehicle accidents and community support calls.
Each brigade differs in types of incidents and the volume of calls they may respond to.
No experience is needed to join the CFA and diverse roles are on offer including community events and fundraising, social media and promotion, business support roles and more.
“We would be fairly keen to increase our firefighting force but certainly there are members that just want to join and contribute to their community, so there is administrative roles and community jobs like promoting fire safety,” said brigade administrative support officer Irene Keating.
“There are roles they can do that aren’t frontline.”
Volunteers must complete general firefighting training before attending an incident, and live or work close enough to the brigade to get there in a safe and timely manner.
Flexible options such as seasonal volunteering may be available.
The call-out is part of the statewide Give us a Hand volunteer recruitment campaign which aims to encourage Victorians to join their local brigade.
