COMMUNITY members and local businesses in some of Ballarat’s fringe areas are invited to attend a policing forum to talk with local officers about what is important for the area.

Moorabool police service area, which includes Moorabool, Golden Plains and Hepburn local government areas, will be holding a forum on Tuesday 26 November at Bacchus Marsh Public Hall.

The forum will cover topics including current crime trends and crime prevention, family violence, young people, road policing, and drugs and drug related crime.

A Victoria Police panel will be present, and questions will be taken from the audience.

“It’s basically just an opportunity for local services, businesses and communities to talk about issues that are important to the community,” said Inspector Nicole Cook, Moorabool local area commander.

“It’s based a lot on the information that comes from our community sentiment survey which is open to the public.”

Ms Cook encouraged community members to come along to ensure Victoria Police have an accurate picture of local concerns.

“We really want to encourage people’s attendance because their attendance is what’s going to make it a success,” she said.

“We all work together; it is a community response, and we need to know what the issues are

“We also need to be able to speak to each other and all work together.”
