AUSTRALIA Post has nominated the last-sending dates for delivery in Australia and overseas for people who want to ensure their gifts and cards arrive in time for Christmas.

For sending to and from most destinations in Australia, Parcel Post items should be sent by Friday 20 December and Express Post parcels by Monday 23 December.

Christmas letters and cards should be sent by Friday 13 December (interstate) and Monday 16 December (same state).

People sending to or from Western Australia and the Northern Territory should allow a few extra days.

Different dates apply for those sending cards and gifts internationally.

The last sending dates for items going Economy Air fall between 19 November and 4 December, depending on the destination.

International Standard postage dates are between 26 November and 11 December, depending on the destination, while International Express items must be sent between 2 December and 16 December, again depending on the destination.

Executive general manager of parcel, post and e-commerce services Gary Starr said the dates were important in helping people plan ahead.

“We understand how crucial these deadlines are for ensuring cards and gifts reach loved ones in time for Christmas, which is why we’re providing this information as early as possible,” he said.

“We’ve been preparing for the Christmas rush all year and are bringing on thousands of new team members across our network, plus enhancing delivery updates through the Australia Post app.

“While we’ll do our best to deliver items sent after these dates as quickly as possible, they may not arrive until after Christmas.”

Detailed last-sending dates can be viewed at auspost.com.au/christmas.

To stay informed about delivery updates, including expected arrival times and any major service interruptions or impacts to the network, customers can use the Australia Post app or visit auspost.com.au/service-updates.

Australia Post recently called for applications for casual jobs across its network, and is still recruiting at auspost.com.au/seasonalcasuals or the career website at jobs.auspost.com.au.
