AN array of Morris Minor and other British Motor Corporation vehicles are set to be on show this weekend as part of a Christmas in July event at St Anne’s Winery at Myrniong.

The get-together is being arranged between the Morris Minor Car Club of Victoria, and the Ballarat, Bendigo, and Geelong, branches.

Morris Car Club of Victoria president Tim Christie said the free event will entail a relaxing day of mutual car appreciation.

“There’ll be about 80 members attending on this free day so we’ll get together, have lunch at St Anne’s, and chat about Morris cars,” he said.

“There’ll be a display of Morrises of different varieties like Morris Marshalls, and Oxfords and everyone’s welcome to come down, have a look, and chat to the owners on the day.”

Mr Christie estimated some 30 Morris Minors, which were in production from the early 1940s until the 1970s, will be on display for the event between the different groups.

He said the event is a great opportunity for the organising clubs to get more involved with the community.

“It’s a way of bringing everyone together for one event,” he said.

“In that part of Victoria, I know there’s lots of car collectors around and different types of British cars. There’ll be a lot of variety there, and who knows, we may even get some new members.

“Clubs have a lot of members at the moment but not a lot that participate, so the whole idea is to bring all them together to have a bigger event and share our knowledge of Morrises between us.”

The car meet is set to take place from 12pm on Sunday 21 July.
