AN influx of vintage and classic vehicles will sweep through the region next month as part of a major gathering between car club representatives from throughout Victoria.

Members of 100 statewide car groups are expected to show off about 80 automobiles as part of the first quarterly delegates meeting for the Victorian Federation of Veteran, Vintage and Classic Vehicle Clubs.

The gathering will be held on 8 February at the Rowsley War Memorial Hall.

Morris Car Club of Victoria president Tim Christie is one of the hosts behind the local event.

He said it is about showcasing the region as a destination for Victorian car shows.

“The decision to go out that way is to put the hall on the map a little bit,” he said.

“With car clubs, they’re always looking for events when they’re running tours for facilities to have lunch at or something.

“We want to make delegates aware of the history there and open it up a little.

“The first thing we’re going to do is show everyone the Bacchus Marsh Gliding Club and the museum there at the Bacchus Marsh Airport.

“That’ll be at around 10am then it’s off to the Rowsley Hall for the delegates lunch and then we’ll have our meeting at 1pm.”

Mr Christie said the meeting is an important one for car clubs across the state.

“We discuss matters around the perspective on H-plates and where VicRoads currently stands on that,” he said.

“There’s also insurance matters and we’ll talk about events coming up like rallies, or if there’s any concerns around running with clubs.”

The vehicles will be on show in front of Rowsley Hall for much of the meeting, with the public invited to come and check out the display during lunchtime.

“It’s open to the public,” Mr Christie said. “Everyone can come have a look around lunchtime.

“We could have anything there from an old A Model Ford to a Falcon GT.

“There’s numerous cars.”
