Cobras call for volunteers
A MOORABOOL sports club is asking locals to roll up their sleeves and give the club a helping hand.
Grassroots sports clubs are the soul of communities, and for most, including the Bacchus Marsh Football Netball Club, volunteers are crucial to keep them running.
From first aid volunteers to fundraising helpers, sporting clubs call on their loyal supporters to lend a hand often, and this season the Cobras are asking for just an hour or two on game day.
“Volunteering can be very rewarding, and benefits many others in the community,” a spokesperson for the club said.
“We’re calling on all supporters to find an hour or two over the season to assist with home game duties.
“If you can help for an hour in the canteen, or on the gate serving at the bar, it will really spread the load and be a great support to our hard-working committee and players.
“We’d like to give a huge thanks to Mick and Christine Huxtable, who operated our oval parking gate for the afternoon whilst watching the footy at our last home game.
“If anyone could please get in touch with Brett Huxtable, or message the club if you can join our volunteer army working the gate, canteen, or bar for an hour between 9am and 5pm Saturdays for our last five home games of the season, that’d be greatly appreciated.”
If you can help out on game day, text Brett Huxtable on 0408 141 897 with your name, preferred role, and the time of days that suits you best to lend a hand.
