LOCAL business owners have been recognised for their long partnership with a Moorabool sports club, with their sponsorship nearing half a century.

Ian and Mark Barnett from Regional Tyre Service have been jointly honoured as Number 1 ticket holder at the Bacchus Marsh Football Netball Club this season, with Club President Ian McClure presenting the pair with a framed Cobras jumper late last month.

The Young Street business has sponsored the Cobras for a whopping 45 years, and Mark Barnett said it was fantastic to see his and his dad’s commitment to the red, yellow, and black acknowledged in this way.

“It’s quite exciting, it’s good to be recognised I suppose for such a long, continuous sponsorship of the club,” Mr Barnett said.

“We don’t have family that have played for the club, but going back a while there’s been that connection via sponsoring the local football clubs.

“It’s just something we’ve always done I suppose. We try to support a lot of the sporting clubs around the town, but the Cobras are the one we’ve had the longest association with.”

The announcement was met with support and thanks to the business for its long support of the club.

“Thank you so much for your generosity Regional Tyre Service,” one Cobras supporter wrote.

“Well done guys, well deserved,” another said.
