A LOCAL school has thanked the community for being a part of a day of fun, at an inaugural event.

St Mary’s Primary School Clarkes Hill held its first ever Community Fair on Saturday 23 March, with a range of activities held including face painting, a petting zoo, pony rides, and a tug-o-war.

The event was organised by the St Mary’s Primary School Parents and Friends Committee, under the guidance of parents Amelia Singline and Bryden Gage.

Ms Singline came up with the idea at the start of last year as it was something she had as a kid in Tasmania, and they have been planning it for the past eight months.

“It was a chance for us to raise awareness of our school in the wider community,” Ms Gage said.

“We had more than 600 people come to the fair, and many of those had never been to our beautiful school before.

“A huge thank you to the businesses who came on the day too, for helping make it such a great event.”

Ms Singline said the fair had well exceeded the level of success they’d thought possible.

“It was well past our expectations, and we all couldn’t have imagined it to be the day it was. It was a great day, be it for the families or the farmers looking for lunch,” she said.

“We can’t wait for next year as I’m sure it will be bigger and better,” said Amelia.
