Connect your business in Moorabool

Providing a focus for discussion is just one reason Moorabool Shire Council has backed the inaugural BizConnect Moorabool Networking event.
The brainwave has been instigated from the Economic Development & Activation department that saw a need for a group for individual businesses wanting to create a stronger, connected voice within the shire.
Held at the Royal Hotel in Bacchus Marsh last Thursday evening, 40 local business people heard from Council CEO Derek Madden and guest John Stock Executive Officer from Melbourne Business Network.
“No matter what your business, this and future events will benefit all from home based, shop front, retail, hospitality, farming and industrial,” MSC Co-ord. Eco Dev. Andy Waugh said.
Mr Madden presented a small snapshot of council, where they were, where they are at, and how to grow council.
“We must prepare to grow council,” he said
“We are at a stage now to invest; building and invest a lot more.
“Growth is happening, and Merrimu will be a whole new precinct with potential for 13,000 houses, a conservative estimation depending on Lot sizes,” he said.
Mr Madden said the Parwan Employment Precinct is estimated to create 1200 jobs in the future and “we have been talking to five major commercial developers”.
“The main stumbling block there is utilities; namely gas. It is going to cost three-times what we thought it would initially.”
Mr Madden said to create opportunity for more employment “the processes are in place to simplify”.
“We must zone correctly to attract,” he said.
A Small business workshop ‘Customer Service Training’ will be held on Tuesday 9 April, 5.30-7.30pm at the James Young Room, Lerderderg Library, with the next meeting of BizConnect Moorabool to be held on Wednesday 24 April, 7pm-8.30pm at the James Young Room, Lerderderg Library.
