Creating new leaders
AN AFL club is offering a ten-session program for young leaders, in partnership with Moorabool Shire Council, and any local resident aged 14-16 is eligible no matter who they barrack for.
Applications are now open for the Western Bulldogs Youth Leadership Project, which will teach participants a range of life skills, developing them into strong, community-minded leaders.
Moorabool Shire Mayor Cr Ally Munari said it was fantastic to be collaborating on the program once again.
“We’re delighted to once again partner with the Western Bulldogs Community Foundation (WBCF) to deliver the Youth Leadership Project,” Cr Munari said.
“We have delivered this project in the past and participants became involved in community projects and developed leadership skills.
“We’re hoping this year’s participants find it as rewarding, come away with a greater understanding of community participation and social inclusion, and form strong connections with each other and with community organisations and services.”
The program will run from April to August, with fortnightly meetings in Ballan.
Registration details can be found on the WBCF website, and need to be submitted by the end of March.
The registration form can be submitted either by prospective participants, or on their behalf by a referring parent, school teacher, coach, et cetera.
Though the program is being delivered by the WBCF, the foundation emphasises that candidates “need not excel athletically or even play sport to be considered”.
