Greendale’s Commercial Glazing has scored a hat-trick at this year’s Ballan & District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards.
The local business took out the 2017 Business of the Year Award and the Trade Services Business Award.
Owner Simon Ross, who established the business with his father in August 1988, was also awarded the Outstanding ‘Tradie’ Award.
Commercial Glazing specialises in glass and glazing repairs throughout Bacchus Marsh, Ballan, Daylesford, Ballarat and Melbourne.
Judge Peter Forbes, Business and Industry Development at Melton City Council, said the local business was well-known for producing remarkable work.
“When some construction would take two weeks, Commercial Glazing takes two-hours,” he said.
In receiving his awards, Mr Ross said he was in shock.
“I think the key thing to success is being observant and watching other successful people. There are a lot of people in this region who I have looked up to, the McLean’s St Anne’s Winery being one of them”.
Over 22 years, Commercial Glazing has developed working relationships with a number of major companies including Crown Casino, National Australia Bank, Telstra and The Grand Hyatt.
The local business has also appeared on the Australian television series, The Block.
“We had to do ten black splash backs and their deadline was 9am Sunday morning,” Mr Ross said.
“We had it done by 8:45am”.
In 2016, Commerical Glazing was the winner of the Crown Contractor/Supplier of the Year Award.
Luke Calder, Ballan and District Community Bank manager, commended Commercial Glazing for their achievements, as well as all of the award finalists.
“All the finalists should be extremely proud of what they bring to Ballan and district,” he said.
The Ballan and District Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank was the major sponsor of the Ballan & District Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards, which was held for the second time on Friday October 27 at the Wallace Hotel with 184 guests.
