Damage to golf course

POLICE are asking anyone with information about damage on a local golf course to come forward.

The Ballan Golf Course, which is maintained by volunteer members of the Ballan Golf Club, is believed to have been intentionally damaged earlier this month.

Leading Senior Constable Nicholas Wallace urged Ballan residents, or anyone else who may have witnessed the act of vandalism, to get in touch with police.

“The third green of the Ballan Golf Course was damaged by vandals some time between Saturday evening and early Sunday morning (13 April – 14 April),” LSC Wallace said.

“It appears a person has performed burnouts on the green with a motorcycle, causing significant damage to the surface.

“This is extremely disappointing, especially considering that the course is maintained tirelessly by hard-working volunteers.

“If anyone has information on this incident, please contact the Ballan Police Station on 5368 1303.”
