Daniher’s Drive to make first stop in Bacchus Marsh
BACCHUS Marsh will be the first scheduled stop on this year’s Daniher’s Drive, a major fundraiser for the organisation fighting motor neurone disease, FightMND.
FightMND was co-founded in 2014 by former AFL player and coach Neale Daniher, who has become the public face of the campaign since being diagnosed with the condition in 2013.
Daniher’s Drive is an annual four-day road trip and this year the route also includes Bendigo, Warrnambool and Lorne.
It starts in Williamstown on Thursday 10 October and will end in Lorne on Sunday 13 October.
The first stop, at Darley Park, is scheduled for 9.30am and will feature a community event until 12.30pm involving local schools, community groups and businesses.
Coffee vans, a sausage sizzle, morning tea, games, entertainment and stalls will be on site, and participating teams will be present from 10.30am to 11.45am.
Teams of four with a vehicle participate in Daniher’s Drive, raising money for MND research and raising awareness of the condition along the way.
About 250 people usually take part, with each team required to raise a certain amount before registering. The number of team members is not limited to four, but if more want to join then more must be raised.
Ray White Bacchus Marsh is co-ordinating the 10 October event with Darley Football Netball Club, FightMND and PSC Insurance Brokers.
