Deputy dumped

The Mayor of Moorabool will rely on all councillors to take on the unofficial role of deputy mayor in 2019/20, rather than a ‘voted-in’ councillor for the position.
It is not a requirement of local government to appoint a deputy mayor however, over the past few years councillors voted to appoint such, but not at the last mayoral election.
At the Statutory and Annual Appointments meeting held on Wednesday 13 November, Cr Paul Tatchell moved to not elect a deputy.
“In the last year of council, I move a motion to not run a deputy mayor.”
This was seconded by West Ward Councillor Tom Sullivan.
Cr Tonia Dudzik objected.
