Detox your home
IF YOU have cupboards chock full of unwanted chemicals you’re not going to use, a solution is coming next month.
From 2 to 4pm on Saturday 15 June, the Ballan Transfer Station and Landfill at 118 Monteville Lane is hosting a ‘Detox Your Home’ event.
Moorabool Shire Council, in conjunction with Sustainability Victoria, will take toxic household chemicals, such as pool chemicals and pesticides, for disposal free of charge.
These items will be either recovered for reuse, or safely disposed of, helping out both your hip pocket, and the environment.
The event is drive-through only, and contactless. For safety reasons, individual containers of more than 20 litres or 20 kilograms can’t be accepted.
Items should be brought in original packaging, or a disposable container which will not be returned.
The service is for household chemicals only, and a full list of which items are accepted is available on the Sustainability Victoria website at www.sustainability.vic.gov.au/accepted-items.
