Don’t forget your helmet
Term 3 school holidays are a fantastic time for kids to enjoy the great outdoors on a bicycle – but Bacchus Marsh Police have urged kids to do so safely.
As we head into warmer spring weather, getting on a bike becomes more and more tempting, but doing so without a helmet is asking for trouble.
Bacchus Marsh Police have put a call out for everyone hopping on a bike to make sure they’re wearing a helmet.
“We want you to make the holidays memorable for the right reasons, and not because you hurt yourself after coming off your bike,” a Bacchus Marsh Police member said.
“We will be out and about reminding people about road safety and the importance of wearing a helmet when cycling.”
A 2018 review of 55 studies into bicycle helmets’ impact on head injury found that bicycle helmets reduce head injury by 48 per cent, serious head injury by 60 per cent, and face injury by 23 per cent.
