Driving community support

The donations from a local car event have been tallied, and the organising club’s president says he is beyond proud of the club, and the community, for getting behind some very worthy causes.
The Marsh Rodders hot rod and custom car club ran its Show ‘N’ Shine & Swap Meet last October, and part of the proceeds were presented to local community groups and charities by the club’s President Peter Douglas just before Christmas.
Mr Douglas thanked the car community and enthusiasts from across the state for heading down to Maddingley Park, and in turn, supporting these amazing groups.
“We donated $2,500 to Soul Food, $2,500 to The Neighbours’ Place, $1,000 to the local SES, $1,000 to the local CFA, and $1,000 to MooraPool. It’s fantastic to be able to contribute in this way, it just shows the support from the community who come and see our show,” he told the Moorabool News.
“It’s how it should work, swings and roundabouts, you know? It was a good effort, it feels good as a local not-for-profit club, being able to give back to the community.”
The aim of the annual Show ‘N’ Shine & Swap Meet is to donate back to community groups depending on attendance, with a great turnout and over 500 cars on show at the 2023 event allowing this fantastic fundraising to occur.
“I’d like to give a shout out to [then] Mayor Cr Rod Ward, Councillors Moira Berry and Paul Tatchell, local Member for Eureka Michaela Settle, all the Marsh Rodders club members for putting in on the day, and all their partners and kids for giving a hand as well.” Mr Douglas added.
The next Show ‘N’ Shine & Swap Meet is planned to run on 20 October, and Mr Douglas says it’ll be the biggest show yet – so make sure to keep an eye on the Marsh Rodders Facebook page for information.
