Drop off green waste for free
THIS month residents of Moorabool Shire can drop off green waste to the region’s transfer stations for free.
Transfer stations are located at Ballan, Maddingley and Mount Egerton, and there is no restriction on the volume of green waste received if it is delivered by a residential vehicle or trailer.
Residents must show proof of residency such as a driver’s licence or utility bill and no commercial customers will be accepted.
The initiative aims to help the community prepare for the bushfire season.
“This is a great initiative that was introduced following more than 700 community contributions as part of Moorabool’s waste and resource recovery strategy 2030,” said Moorabool Shire Council CEO Derek Madden.
“This initiative runs every November, enabling Moorabool Shire residents to drop off green waste at no cost, to any of the Shire’s transfer stations.
“This helps enormously with preparing properties for the upcoming fire season, so we encourage residents to take advantage of it.”
Accepted items include undergrowth and fallen branches, leaves from gutters and grass.
Tree stumps, branches over 200 millimetres in diameter, and green waste mixed with garbage, recyclables, building materials or any other contaminant will not be accepted.
