Since the horrific storms that hit the region two years ago, the Korweinguboora community and Moorabool Shire Council have worked together, with a recovery plan concluding this month.

The flood recovery program facilitated a resilience group that aims to rebuild a sense of community in Korweinguboora and surrounds following the storms in June 2021.

The group, which has been named the Korweinguboora Emergency Group Incorporated (KEG), reflects the diversity of the community, having elected 16-year-old Jalissa as their president.

KEG has developed a Community Emergency Action plan for the surrounding area.

Korweinguboora Recreation Reserve also received improvements, including:
• Installation of a defibrillator
• Installation of a wheelchair ramp
• Fresh paint on the outside of the hall and replacement of worn out guttering
• Painting and replacement the cisterns on the public toilet block
• Undertaking of maintenance on the driveway
Emergency Recovery Victoria provided funding for the program, which has now concluded.

Korweinguboora was one of the hardest hit parts of Moorabool during the June 2021 storms, with thousands of trees falling, closing roads and cutting off power.

Residents told the Moorabool News following those storms that they believed it would be years before things returned to normal.
