This year’s Aussie Backyard Bird Count has officially ended, and participants spotted a record number of birds for BirdLife Australia.
The event was officially held from the 19-25 October, with bird counters able to submit what species of birds they spotted every day in a 20-minute period via the Aussie Bird Count app and website.
The final tally was 5,050,399 birds counted – a huge increase from the nearly 3.4 million spotted in 2019.
There were 10,631 birds spotted in the Bacchus Marsh area, while 3037 were recorded in Ballan and 1204 in Gordon.
