Explore the forests, never been easier
A new smartphone app to encourage the community to get out and about in our local state parks and forests, is now available on both iPhones and Android devices.
The ‘More to Explore’ interactive app covers state forests across Victoria, including the Lerderderg State Park and Wombat State Forest in Moorabool, and displays areas of recreational interest such as campsites, picnic grounds, walking trails and other outdoor activities.
“The app has been designed to help users navigate when out in the forest to find trails and sites that suit their needs and interests…it allows you to plan your visit before even leaving the house, using the search function to find the idea state forest site or trail,” said Grampians Assistant Chief Fire Officer Tony English.
“If visiting areas likely to be out of mobile phone range or with limited mobile reception, explorers can download maps onto a mobile device, to enable offline navigation and location on the map using the device’s GPS function,” he said.
