Extra tests for school children

The state government has some extra news parents might have missed in regards to Rapid Antigen Tests.

At the start of the year, the government promised that Victorian kids would go back to school, stay at school, and be safe at school too.

Premier Andrews said “And that’s exactly what happened”.

Last week the Premier announced that they were expanding and extending those measures for the rest of the term.

“It means 24 million extra RAT tests for schools and early childhood services, which we expect will help prevent 61,000 new infections,” Premier Andrews said.

“And an extra 60,000 ventilators, on top of the 50,000 already in schools – enough to cover every single government classroom in the state.”

Construction has also begun on over 800 shaded outdoor learning spaces for schools in every corner of the state.

Kids aged 5-11 can now get their first and second dose, and those aged over 16 can go get a third dose right now.

“So please, don’t delay – walk in, or book in, and get your children vaccinated today,” Premier Andrews said.
