SCHOOLS in the Ballarat electorate are set to benefit thanks to Federal funding.

Four local institutions will share among a $2.7 million pool as part of the second round of the Schools Upgrade Fund.

Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, said the funding is a boost for local schools.

“I’m thrilled to see Ballarat public schools will be recipients of the Albanese Government’s School Upgrade’s Fund,” she said.

“It is exciting to see that our local schools will be receiving these substantial upgrades, which will help deliver better outcomes for children in our community.

“From new playgrounds to refurbished basketball courts and better green space, I know this investment will go a long way to improving the life and learning of the children of Ballarat.

“The Australian Government’s Schools Upgrade Fund is making a real difference for schools, teachers and students throughout Ballarat.”

More than $477,000 will go to Linton Primary School for basketball court refurbishments and landscaping works while Yuille Park Community College will get over $919,000 for playground upgrades.

Nerrina’s Little Bendigo Primary School will get over $800,000 for overhead and resurfacing infrastructure for the school’s asphalt sports courts.

Nearly $500,000 will be spent on replacing Magpie Primary School’s existing hard court and surrounding fencing.

The latest round of the Schools Upgrade Fund is seeing nearly $50 million allocated towards public schools across Victoria with priority given depending on intakes of First Nations students, as well as disabled students, and students from low socio-economic backgrounds.

Schools that have benefited from the previous round include Our Lady Help of Christians, St Mary’s, Forest Street, Pleasant Street, Creswick North, Napoleons, and Shelford primary schools.
