RURAL landowners and farmers are being asked to share their thoughts on the Moorabool Shire’s draft Rural Land Use Strategy which is open for feedback until Sunday 18 August.

Mayor Cr Ally Munari said the strategy will be used to guide decision-making on the use and development of Moorabool’s rural land into the future.

“This will assist council to more effectively manage use and development in rural areas, including dwellings, agricultural and non-agricultural land uses, environment, tourism and rural interfaces,” she said.

“We encourage residents to have their say on this draft strategy to ensure it reflects the concerns and aspirations of our local community.”

Fiskville sheep farmer Scott Young is involved with the Victorian Farmers Federation Livestock Group and urged all agricultural people in the area to have a look at the strategy.

“Put in comments, ” he said. “Quite often when these consultations go out, a lot of people don’t know they’re out there and views and decisions are made based on very few replies.

“I would encourage all farmers to put a submission in on their views on the Rural Land Use Strategy.

“Once it’s closed, it’s too late.”
